The C&H Fire Protection Winterization Program

Is your sprinkler system ready for the cold weather?

Freezing temperatures are right around the corner.

As winter approaches, your fire sprinkler

system can be vulnerable to the effects

of winter. The cold, hard facts are that

freezing temperatures can be a source

of serious problems. Freezing conditions

can cause extensive damage to your

sprinkler system and your property

and potentially result in costly, timeconsuming

disruption to your business.

Given the risks, it is highly advisable to

prepare your system in advance – and

then carefully monitor it throughout the

winter months.

How winter impacts your sprinkler system

Frozen water in your piping can cause

fittings and/or sprinklers to break. As

temperatures rise, frozen water melts

and begins flowing through the broken

sections of piping and fittings, possibly

leading to water-damage problems. If air

compressors are not working properly, or

if the amount of priming water required

for dry systems is not correct, you can

experience false trips of the system.

This can result in water flowing into the

piping when there is no fire. If the water

happens to flow into cold temperature

pipes, it will quickly freeze, causing

additional piping and fittings damage.

Clearly, these are winter weather

problems that you want to avoid.

Our Winterization Program. Simple and effective.

C&H Fire Protection can help you with

a cost-effective program designed to get

your sprinkler system through those long,

cold winters.

As a longtime leader in fire protection,

C&H Fire Protection understands

the importance of proper inspection

and maintenance of fire and lifesafety

systems. We take great pride

in our capabilities and the training and

knowledge that our people can provide

to help customers winterize your

sprinkler system. Under our Winterization

Program, C&H FIre Protection sprinkler

technicians can take you through a

checklist of important measures. We’ll

then leave the checklist with you,

enabling your team to perform similar

tasks once we have completed our initial

inspection and maintenance work.

Inspection and maintenance guidelines

Using our knowledge and experience, we

have developed a set of guidelines to

help reduce the risk of sprinkler system

freeze-ups. Our technicians use these

guidelines to support the customers we

serve through the C&H Fire Protection

Winterization Program. You can also

use them to perform your own future

inspections and maintenance.
